Body Text

As I read the assignment, I was pondering what songs, T.V. shows, movies, etc etc relate to the workshop. I came to the conclusion that I should pick a song. Songs are extremely influential in this day and age, and literally everywhere you go you can hear a song. Songs are in the background of movies, in elevators, even as I type this my fingers make a little song on my keyboard. The first song that came to mind, was "I'm a Slave 4 U" by Britney Spears. Obviously the whole song is a sexual connotation. For some strange reason the blog, won't allow me to post the lyrics. The whole song she sings about her sexual infatuation for this person and how "[she] can't hide, [and how she's] not going to fight it." And the title, "I'm a Slave 4 U," all by itself shows she is just willing to give up everything for this guy. The message that has she all has thats worth giving is her body; stress on her only worth is her body. By the lyrics, rhythm, and beat, her interactions with this person seem to be casual and for fun. I'm not here to judge anyone, I've been in the same position once or twice, but I've learned from it. Your body and feelings and mind, are precious, and shouldn't be just simply given to anyone at any moment. You're worth the world, and no boy should ever change that. You need to respect yourself or no one else will. Of course, I love to dance and work out to this song. Its got an awesome rhythm and can really pump you up when you're getting ready to go out. But think about the message Britney's putting out there. And look where she is now.
